Governor Uba Sani Unveils Ambitious "Budget of Rural Transformation for Inclusive Development" in Kaduna State

In a significant address delivered to the Kaduna State House of Assembly on Monday, 18th December 2023, Governor Uba Sani presented the eagerly awaited Year 2024 Budget, marking a pivotal moment in the administration's commitment to fulfilling promises made to the people of Kaduna State.

Against a backdrop of challenging economic conditions, Governor Sani outlined the administration's seven-pillar strategy, emphasizing priorities such as Safety and Security, Infrastructure Upgrade, Strengthening Institutions, Trade and Investment, Agriculture, Human Capital Investment, and Citizens Engagement.

Addressing the citizens, Governor Sani acknowledged the difficulties faced by the people and highlighted the government's relentless efforts to bring relief, particularly to the vulnerable. Underscoring the administration's dedication to reversing negative development trends, he emphasized the focus on rural transformation through substantial infrastructural development.

Governor Sani stressed the administration's commitment to Human Capital Development, with a spotlight on Education and Health sectors. The proposed budget of N458,271,299,477.66 reflects a strategic allocation, with N318,836,576,588.28 designated for Capital Expenditure and N139,434,722,889.38 for Recurrent Expenditure, indicating a prioritization of capital spending to drive inclusive development.

Education, Health, and the Economic sector, including Agriculture, Public Works, and Infrastructure, receive substantial allocations, aligning with the administration's agenda. Governor Sani assured citizens that the budget was crafted with a keen awareness of economic realities, including the removal of fuel subsidies, inflation, and exchange rate unification.

In a move towards participatory governance, the administration held a Townhall Meeting to incorporate citizen input into the budget-making process. Governor Sani affirmed the commitment to consult the people, emphasizing their role in decisions affecting welfare and security.

The Governor concluded by expressing confidence in the Honourable House's swift consideration of the budget, highlighting the collaborative spirit between the executive and legislative branches. He characterized the 2024 Budget as transformative, poised to bridge rural-urban gaps, address infrastructure deficits, and rejuvenate belief in governance and democracy.

Governor Uba Sani formally laid the 2024 Budget proposal before the Honourable House, expressing optimism that the wisdom and zeal of the House would ensure the betterment of the people of Kaduna State.
